Activities

On this page you will find information for the various activities during the event. To see which activities you are scheduled for see the activity overview by clicking the button below.

Fjordsafari & Fishing

You can choose between two activities on the fjord:

  • Sailing and fishing for half a day on Ofotfjorden outside Narvik in a large boat (included in the event price)

  • a full day trip which takes you out to Risvær in Lofoten with speedboats (NOK 810,- additional cost, limited capacity).

Both options include the opportunity for fishing, and we can guarantee that you will catch something if you try! However, you can only choose one of the two options. Read more about each trip below.

Fishing in Ofotfjorden

A nice boat trip on Ofotfjorden right outside Narvik with opportunity for fishing. For this trip, we have a large boat which will travel in a comfortable speed and provide the opportunity to step inside if you get cold.

The trip lasts half a day, with one group sailing before lunch, and a second group sailing after lunch. Lunch is included and the two groups will meet and eat lunch together at the harbor.

This option allows ample time for some skiing or sightseeing in Narvik before or after the sailing.

RIB-safari to Risvær in Lofoten

Lofoten in one day! Fast RIB-boats will take us through fjords in areas with 365 islands on our way to a small fishing village located on the island Risvær in Lofoten. There will be original fish soup on the menu for lunch once we arrive. You will also get an exceptional fishing experience and a tour in the fjord with a fishing boat. This will be a great opportunity to socialize with fellow SAS’lers while fishing and enjoying the view of the fjords and mountains.

Please note that the ride with speed boats out to Risvær can be physically demanding and may not be suitable for everyone. In addition this activity has a capacity limited to 140 persons (70 people per day). Since this is a full day activity and we have limited capacity, this activity has an additional cost of NOK 810,- and will be booked on a "first come - first serve" principle.

Ski Touring

We have two options for ski touring:

  • Ski tour up to Tredjetoppen (included in the event price). This tour is relatively easy as you can start hiking from the top of the ski lift. Two alternative routes down. Suited for most participants.

  • Advanced ski tour to the area around Skjomen (additional cost, limited capacity).

Please note that all ski touring (both Tredjetoppen and Skjomen) requires avalanche safety equipment. At a minimum:

  • Transceiver / beacon

  • Probe

  • Shovel

"If somebody mentions ski touring and Northern Norway most people probably think about Lofoten Islands and Lyngen.

Strange enough Narvik is practically unknown even though the little town offers some of the best backcountry skiing in Scandinavia."

Ski tour to Tredjetoppen

Join us on a guided ski tour to Tredjetoppen behind Narvikfjellet. The way up is relatively easy, but the path to the peak at 1272 m is surrounded by fjords on one side and steep mountains on the other. Needless to say the scenery will be amazing. From the peak, there are several alternative routes down. There will be an advanced route option, but our guides will also facilitate a more comfortable downhill along the path you walk up.

Advanced ski tour to Skjomen

For the more experienced ski tour skiers, we will arrange a ski tour in smaller groups and with dedicated mountain guides to the area around Skjomen (see map below). This trip is limited to 36 people (18 per day), and requires the participants to bring their own avalanche gear:

  • Transceiver / Beacon

  • Shovel

  • Probe

This ski tour will have an additional cost of NOK 1'000,- due to the limited capacity and extra costs of mountain guides and transportation. Reservations will be made based on a "first come - first served" principle.

Information regarding rental equipment

Unfortunately Narvik has a very limited supply of rental equipment for ski touring. We cannot guarantee that you will be able to rent ski touring equipment in Narvik for the ski touring activities. If you need to rent skis for the event we recommend that you contact Narvikfjellet's ski rental as soon as possible to make reservations for equipment: https://www.narvikfjellet.no/en/ski-rental

Ski Races

In the true spirit of SAS, we will of course arrange for a series of ski races to complete our event schedule. The races will take place on Saturday. One week after the Norwegian national championships have ended you will have the opportunity to put your skills to the test, in the potential slopes for the 2027 world championships. Choose your favorite discipline, or accept the challenge of completing all the races:

  • Giant Slalom (Register here)

  • “Sie und Er” (unfortunately canceled due to the large number of participants)

  • Cross country (Register here)

If you wish to participate in the cross country relay, but don't have a team, you can register at the link below and we will try to find a team for you:

Gala Dinner

The gala-dinner will be held at the Quality hotel

Thursday night we gather for a nice dinner at the Quality Grand Royal hotel. Here we will enjoy a good meal and share our experiences after the first full day of activities in Narvik. We will show pictures from the participants on a big screen during the dinner. So please remember to upload some of your photos taken during the day at narvik.sas-ski.ch.

Dress code: SAS-Krawatte / Blazer (Festive)

Closing Dinner

The venue for our closing party: "Lokstallen"

Time to bring out the SAS-pulli once more. The closing dinner and party will be in an old locomotive shed. We will experience the strong feeling of Rallar and the industrial history of Narvik. The food is also an experience in itself. We’ll try the best of traditional Sami food, and we’ll create memories for life. This will be an extraordinary closing party for all participants!
