Presenting Rolf Ringdal, Honorary guest of Norge-Suisse 2022

We are proud to present Rolf Ringdal as the Honorary guest for SAS Norge's 70th and 71st-anniversary event; the Norge-Suisse 2022 in Narvik:

Hardly anyone has done more for the relationship between SAS in Norway and Switzerland than Rolf Ringdal. During the last 25 years, he has held positions like Sprungchef Pentathlon, President SAS Zurich, Liaison Norwegienne in Central Committee since 2004, OK-Chef Pentathlon, member of the Central Committee. In all these functions he has always had SAS Norway on his mind.

Rolf has traveled maybe 15 times to Norway to participate in SAS Norge Sections yearly Assemblies. Here he has kept us informed and contributes with ideas, inspiration, and practical support. On numerous other occasions through the years SAS Norge has benefited from Rolf`s contributions and he has helped put SAS Norge more clearly on the map, also in Switzerland. Rolf's support is always competent and with an offer to help and he never promotes his own person.

Rolf lives the SAS Spirit to the fullest. And maybe the best of it all: Rolf's enthusiasm is always accompanied by a sense of humor and a big smile. He does not know all the good he can do for SAS Norge. But if you tell him, he will do it!

On behalf of all of SAS Norge,

Pål Troye

President, Honorary Member

Green light for Norge-Suisse in 2022!

We are extremely happy to report that the Norwegian government removed almost all covid-19 restrictions last Saturday. This means that we will go ahead and organize Norge-Suisse as planned 6.-10. April 2022! Thank you for your patience and understanding during the nail-biting last two weeks.

Final payment will be a bit delayed

Due to technical issues with Visit Narvik Event's payment processor, the payment of the remaining participant fee will be a bit delayed compared to the original timeline. Visit Narvik Event is on the case and we hope we will have it fixed within a couple of weeks. All participants will receive an email with instructions once the issues are resolved.

Now is the time to prepare your teams for "Sie und Er" and the cross country relay. Registration to all of the ski races will open shortly.

We are looking forward to receive you all in Narvik April 6th!

Best regards

Important information regarding the Covid-19 situation

Unfortunately, Covid-19 is still very much affecting all our daily lives. We would like to inform you that we are following the situation closely and keeping in dialog with the SAS-Zentralvorstand regarding our options should the situation not improve in the next couple of weeks. Our main goal is still to host the event as planned. However, we are considering the risk that we will not be able to host the event in it's intended form this year due to the Covid-19 situation. The alternative should that be the case will be to postpone the event another year. As of today, the restrictions in Norway prohibit us from hosting the event as planned. However, with the new Omicron-variant things are changing fast and we are expecting updates from the government regarding restrictions shortly. It is very important to us that all participants feel safe and are fully able to enjoy the spectacular experience we have planned for you.

We will make a decision in cooperation with the SAS-Zentralvorstand whether we have to postpone the event to 2023 within the next 14 days.

More updates will follow. We encourage everyone to check the event homepage regularly in the following weeks to make sure you receive potentially important news and updates. In the meantime we "drucken die Daumen" that the positive trend will continue and that we can host the event as planned.

Best regards

Alternative activities for "non-skiers"

For participants who, for some reason, are not able to go skiing, there are several other alternative activities available in Narvik.

These activities are not part of the official event program. However, Pål Troye has generously offered to put together and organize a program of alternative activities including:

  • A visit to Narviks war history museum

  • A trip to "Polar Park" a zoo with polar wildlife

  • Visit to a fish farm

You can find the full description of Pål's alternative program here, or by navigating to:

Activities-->Alternative Activities.

If you wish to do any of the alternative activities please get in touch with Pål Troye at pal.troye[at]gmail.com.

Waiting list now available

The event was fully booked in record time! Since there are still many SAS'lers that wants to register we are opening a waiting list.

If we have any cancellations, or someone is unable to participate for various reasons we will give the opportunity to participate to someone on the waiting list.

As general guideline, we will distribute potential new tickets on a first come first served basis. However, we reserve the right to make different prioritizations (e.g. to optimize the utilization of the chartered planes etc.).

Register on the waiting list by following the link below:

Event is now fully booked

Thank you all for the great interest in the event. We reached 300 participants a couple of minutes ago, which means we are fully booked.

We will open a waiting list for people who did not manage to secure a ticket. The registration for the waiting list will be published very soon.

14.11.2021

Official registration opens 15.11.2021 - 00:00

We will open the registration for everyone at midnight tonight. This means that registration will be open to everyone, not only those who pre-registered in the summer.

Currently we have ~200 participants registered and we know there are many people waiting for the registration to open for everyone, so it might be a good idea to be ready when the registration opens.

Thank you all for the great enthusiasm and interest, helping us to create a great event for all SAS'lers!

29.10.2021

Official registration will soon open

Time for a new update regarding the Norge-Suisse 2022 in Narvik. The response during the pre-registration this summer beat our wildest expectations! 300 people signed up, with even more people trying to register after the pre-registration closed.

The overwhelming response has caused us to increase the scope of the event, adding a couple of additional activities in order to increase the capacity of the event. Some of the activities will have limited capacity, but we have added alternatives so that everyone who wants will get to go fishing on the fjord, as well as going on a ski tour. Due to the increased scope of the event, especially with regards to the big interest from young SAS’lers this has also affected the cost of the event as the support we receive from the Zentralvorstand and the SAS Stiftung & Wilhelm-fonds will have to be distributed among more people. You will find updated price information on the Register page.

Event capacity limited to 300 participants

To ensure the quality of the event, we have seen it necessary to set a total limit of maximum 300 participants for the event. The tickets to the event will be distributed on a “first come - first served” basis, so it is probably a good idea to be ready when the registration opens. Especially if you want to participate in any of the activities with limited participant capacity (RIB safari to Risvær and Advanced ski tour to Skjomen).

Registration

The official registration will be conducted in the following manner:

  • November 10th: Registration will open for pre-registered participants. They will receive an email with an invitation to the official registration.

  • November 15th: Official registration will be opened for everyone on this website.

  • Registration will close by the end of Sunday December 5th, 2021.

50% of the participation cost will be paid upon registration, and the remaining 50% will be invoiced in January/February.

Chartered plane(s) from Switzerland

Booking seats on the chartered plane(s) from Switzerland will be handled separately by the central committee (contact person Res Breitenmoser). However, we will provide information and link to the relevant page for flight bookings to make everything as easy as possible for you. More information will be available very soon.

27.06.2021

Updated price information for the flight from Oslo

We have received updated information from Scandinavian Airlines regarding the terms for the return flight from Oslo to Narvik. As a result, we have had to correct the price to NOK 3'400,- (from 2'800,-). The updated price includes both checked luggage and ski equipment for adult participants.

Update: Status preliminary registration & event cost

There has been an overwhelming response in the short period that preliminary registration has been open. After only 10 days we have already passed 160 registered participants! Thank you all for registering, this will truly be an experience for life.

However, due to the enormous response, we feel the need to clarify the underlying assumptions in the budgeted cost estimate:

Budget assumptions

  • 150 total participants

  • 50 participants born in 1987 or later

  • 30 participants born 1987 or later that will travel on the chartered plane from Switzerland

Both the SAS Zentralvorstand and the SAS Stiftung have been very generous and provided financial support in order to make the event affordable for as many SAS members as possible. However, now that we exceed the number of budgeted participants, adjustments to the estimated costs have to be expected as the financial support is divided on more participants. We will provide an updated cost estimate once preliminary registration is closed.

Clarification regarding the discounted cost for participants born 1987 or later

The discounted cost for participants born in 1987 or later is attributed to support from the SAS Stiftung. The discounted cost only applies to SAS members and candidates. Thus, the normal cost estimate applies for spouses and adult children that are not SAS members or candidates. Due to the exceptional response from participants born in 1987 or later, we will likely have to adjust the discounted cost estimate as well. We will provide updated cost estimates once preliminary registration is closed.

For families traveling with young children, the cost for the children is likely to be lower. However, we need to make additional estimates and considerations before we can communicate a cost estimate for families with young children.
